Getting to know Sara Matlack

Hello, I am a Therapist whom works with Grief, Family distress, Aging, Spiritual Distress and Life Changes. My goal is to walk with you through waves of Grief. Learn about how your family operates and provide support when life transitions are hard. When you leave my office I want you to feel confident, more hopeful and able to see a brighter future. I’m available in person or virtual. I have over 14 years of experience in many areas of Clinical Social Work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I get it, starting therapy is hard and finding someone is tricky. My office is a safe place and I do not judge. My goal is to provide you with support, kindness and place to talk about things you cannot tell those closest to you. I have skills that have helped many others before you. I have clients that have stayed with me for years because they trust me and know I genuinely want the best for them. I have a comfy seat ready for you at a beautiful. house in downtown Powell, Ohio.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Usually, I will walk down stairs to pick you up in our lovely waiting room. Then we go upstairs to my office with cool barn doors. We will check in on how the day, weather and life is going. We will talk about any times that have been difficult since last session. Sometimes we review homework (there is no grade in the office and if you did not get to it we will just work on it in session). I will go at your pace. Every client is different and so is every form of treatment. We might end the session on deep breathing or making a plan for an upcoming big event. My goal is to always leave you feeling more knowledgable, calmer and feeling more prepared for life outside of session.
