Getting to know Sara McClelland

Hi there! My name is Sara, and I am an LMHC and LPC licensed in both Florida and Colorado. I hold a Master's in Professional Counseling Psychology from Florida International University. My focus is mostly on pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting struggles. As a mom of two littles, I recognize the challenges of parenthood and the solitude in which many parents find themselves. I ventured into the maternal mental health realm in the hopes of supporting other mothers. I am trained as a birth and postpartum doula and regularly pursue continuing education related to early childhood development, parenting, perinatal mental health, and postpartum mental health. There is often a sense of putting the needs of children and family before yourself and losing your identity in the process. I aim to help parents balance their identities and needs with those of their families.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach aims to help clients expand and work on the issues that are most deeply meaningful and relevant to them where they are at that moment. While there may be a goal in mind, life is fluid and ever-changing, and my approach reflects that fluidity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I meet every client where they are. We may venture into uncomfortable territory, as therapy often does, but I focus heavily on creating safe and open spaces for my clients to be able to fully express themselves and validate their experiences.
