When we experience traumatic events, we don't just leave them behind. A part of who we are can stay trapped in the moment they happened, causing us to take on destructive beliefs about ourselves and how we relate to others. The world becomes unsafe, trust can seem impossible, and no matter how hard we try we can end up feeling like someone will always be able to see through the mask we've carefully constructed. Having OCD alongside the aftermath of traumatic experiences can make safety planning the forefront of your focus. OCD can latch onto traumatic experiences and replay unanswerable questions along with one's biggest fears again and again. I'm trained in EMDR, Exposure and Response Ritual Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My goal is to assist clients in releasing shame, processing their experiences, and gently examining survival behaviors. When I assist clients in rebuilding the story of who they are and most want to be, l use an approach that incorporates psychodynamic theory and empathy along with gold standard methods. Working together we can discover your personal values, how you can release old patterns that no longer serve you, and what it looks like to strive towards a life of meaning.
