Hi, I'm Sara. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who might be feeling like they are stuck in the 'in-between' spots of life. Sometimes it's trying to figure out, 'Where do I go from here?' Whether that's the transition from high school to higher education, a degree that was begun but now on pause, a job that seemed great but now feels draining, a relationship that's ended, or a memory or experience that just won't go away. It could be that you've recently experienced a major stressor, realized you don't have a person you feel comfortable confiding in, or a feeling that things just aren't working anymore. As a trauma-informed and attachment-based therapist, I believe that past experiences and relationships can affect us in the present—the way we think, feel, and respond to different situations, stimuli, and people. My approach is to help you understand the way your brain is wired; examine your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and actions in a safe and productive way; and introduce techniques to help you strengthen your ability to remain present and calm as you process difficult things at the right pace. I use art therapy with clients who enjoy making things and for clients who have difficulty verbalizing what they think or feel. Art therapy uses the art-making process, counseling techniques, and theory to help individuals find healing through the making, sharing, and processing of their art. The creative process can help guide clients in reframing experiences, processing challenging emotions, learning new ways to problem-solve, and encouraging new coping skills. No art-making experience required! I have a casual but intentional style to therapy—I enjoy using humor, listening to your stories, and learning about what motivates and brings you fulfillment. I strive to create a warm and accepting environment for good work to happen by being authentic, reliable, informed, and trustworthy. Because therapy isn't 'one-size-fits-all,' I like to get to know you
