Getting to know Sara Rahn

Through my work in this field over the past decade and a half, I have developed a deep appreciation for a comprehensive, compassionate, and holistic approach to mental health—one that honors the inter-connectedness of mind, body and spirit into the healing process. I believe in the therapeutic alliance and I aim to foster a connection with all of my clients in which they feel safe with growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist in the state of Wisconsin, with a Master’s degree in Counseling from a CACREP-accredited university, earned in 2013. Over the past two decades, I have worked across a range of mental health settings, including outpatient services, correctional facilities, and youth intensive outpatient programs. My professional background includes extensive training in trauma-informed care, with specialized certification in Clinical Hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the initial session, I conduct a comprehensive assessment to gather relevant background information and gain a deeper understanding of the concerns that have brought you to therapy. This session also serves as a collaborative space to begin identifying your therapeutic goals. I believe in regularly revisiting and reassessing these goals to ensure our work remains aligned with your evolving needs and priorities. Weekly sessions thereafter are typically 45 to 55 minutes in length and integrate traditional talk therapy with the introduction and practice of evidence-based skills aimed at symptom management and nervous system regulation. When clinically appropriate, I may incorporate trauma-focused modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Clinical Hypnosis, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing to support deeper healing and processing of unresolved trauma.
