Sarah Clark, LMFT

Psychotherapist
PA
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2007, with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the VA Tech Graduate Center. I enjoy working collaboratively to achieve the best treatment outcomes for individuals, children, couples, and families. My approach I like to work collaboratively with my clients and often lean on emotionally focused, solution-focused, and client-centered approaches. My focus I work with teens, children, couples, families, and individuals around a variety of issues, including self-harm and suicidal ideation, depression and anxiety, abuse, substance use, and family and marital conflict. My communication style I like to work experientially and will often try out coping skills and new thought patterns in session with my clients. I strive to be flexible and ensure we have the right treatment approach to help you feel better. My journey to mental healthcare When I was 20, I lost my brother in an accident. I was devastated and starting a new college just three weeks later. By happenstance, I met a faculty member who had worked as a clinical psychologist before teaching. I found that just a few minutes with him was better than hours of venting to my friends in helping me understand what I was going through and how to get through it. Helping people understand themselves, their brains, and their experiences is a beautiful gift and journey I enjoy sharing, as it changed my life and I want to pass that on. My goals for you I find goals are most helpful when set together and are meaningful to the client. My first session with you We'll talk about what to expect from therapy, what brought you here, and what you're hoping to gain from this experience.
