Sarah Connors, LPC

Psychotherapist
CT
Hi there, I'm Sarah! I have been in the field for more than 20 years. I enjoy meeting people where they're at in life and focusing on ways to be part of your process toward your goals. I have a range of interests, but currently, I focus on a telehealth-only practice to reach individuals who benefit from an online experience. I hold a Master’s degree from the University of Hartford and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My approach I like to get a full picture of who you are and where you want to go. While I can get a preliminary idea in the first session, it’s important to continue building that understanding as the therapeutic relationship unfolds. I draw from various therapeutic approaches. I was trained in psychodynamic and attachment theories but also find CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness useful. I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, Developmental Psychology, and Family Systems theories as well. While I appreciate client-centered therapy, some benefit from a more directive, reality-focused approach. My preferred modality is strengths- and solution-focused therapy, a generally time-limited, problem-solving model. Some need only a couple of sessions; others, longer. The goal is progress, not perfection. Celebrating small victories matters as much as the end goal. My focus I enjoy working with all ages and stages, but this is a telehealth-only practice. My focus is primarily adults, young adults, and older adolescents (14-17). Family and parent sessions are available as clinically indicated if you or your child is under 18. I work with adjustment problems, grief, life transitions, parenting stress, job stress, anxiety, mood concerns, insomnia, and mild ADHD or Autism (not aggressive, unsafe, or verbal challenges). My communication style I strike a balance between being warm and empathetic while also honest and forthcoming. I will tell you what to expect upfront because I want this to be your time.
