Sarah Kelly, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
Hi, Im Sarah I hold an undergraduate degree in Education and a graduate degree in Holistic Mental Health Counseling. I've spent over 23 years working in higher education, including teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Psychology and Clinical Counseling. Alongside my academic work, I've had the privilege of practicing in a wide range of clinical settings, including residential treatment, outpatient agencies, a hospital emergency department, and as a clinical counselor with Youth Pride Inc. For the past 10 years, I've been in private practice alongside my career in higher ed. My work is deeply influenced by mindfulness and contemplative traditions, with inspiration from teachers such as Thich Nhat Hanh, Jack Kornfield, Eckhart Tolle, John KabatZinn, and Michael Mahoney, although I think you may find me more friendly and direct like a teacher mentor counselor than a meditation teacher. I've completed training in CBT, DBT, Hakomi Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. I am certified in herbalism through Rosemary Gladstar and am I certified Master Naturalist through UMD extension, and believe the outdoors holds many keys to health and healing. I do this work because I've experienced firsthand how powerful it can be to be met with understanding, care, and support during difficult seasons of life. Others have helped me along the way, and my work as a therapist is, in many ways, about passing that care forward creating a space where people feel seen, respected, and supported as they find their own path toward healing and change.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
