Sarah Khorami, MA

Psychotherapist
NY
You may look fine on the outside—responsible, capable, and high functioning—but internally you may feel overwhelmed, tense, or mentally exhausted. Many clients come to me describing racing thoughts, overthinking, irritability, guilt after emotional reactions, chronic stress, or difficulty balancing family expectations with their own needs. I provide a supportive, culturally aware, and nonjudgmental space where you do not have to explain your background, pressure, or lived experience in order to be understood. My goal is to help you find relief, clarity, and emotional balance while addressing both current stressors and deeper patterns that may be contributing to your distress.

Getting to know Sarah Khorami

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a direct, grounded, and supportive therapeutic approach. I focus on helping individuals who are often high-functioning on the outside but internally struggling with anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, or relational tension. My style is collaborative and practical. I do not take a lecture-based approach—instead, I meet you where you are and help you make sense of what you are experiencing in a way that feels validating and actionable. Together, we work toward reducing emotional overload, improving self-regulation, and creating healthier patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Clients often find that therapy with me feels like a space where they can finally slow down, feel understood, and stop carrying everything alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session focuses on understanding your current challenges, stressors, and goals. We will explore what has been weighing on you, how it is affecting your daily life, and what you would like to feel or change through therapy. From there, sessions are structured but flexible, depending on your needs. We may work on identifying triggers, understanding thought and emotional patterns, and developing coping strategies for anxiety, stress, anger, or emotional reactivity. I also support clients in processing deeper life experiences, family dynamics, and cultural or identity-related pressures when relevant. As therapy progresses, we regularly review your progress and adjust the focus to ensure you are gaining relief, insight, and practical tools that support your long-term emotional well-being.
