Sarah Kraft, MSW

Psychotherapist
MI
I believe in working to develop a therapeutic relationship where you feel connected, supported, and safe. This is a collaborative process, and I hope to be an assistant in your recovery journey. I understand trust is important to your ability to work through what you need for wellness, and it can take time. My approach I specialize in researched, proven to be effective therapy models that can offer those with the conditions they are designed for a lot of relief, if not resolution of the diagnosis. When ready, I encourage my clients to make use of those therapies. Often, it can be hard work, but my graduates would tell you that to say “it’s worth it”. My focus I enjoy working with a diverse group of adults experiencing a variety of mental health and life challenges. Trauma, grief, and the complications that come from avoidance manifest differently for different people. I take a nonjudgmental stance, understanding that symptoms and behavioral patterns all come from somewhere, and work with you to overcome My communication style I empathize, validate, and normalize to create a safe space for you to share. I am gentle, but I can also be transparent, direct, and tough if that's what's needed to challenge symptoms. I also incorporate humor where appropriate because I find that to be a good coping strategy for many people, and a way to support client comfort. My journey to mental healthcare I graduated from UM Social Work in 2001. Shortly thereafter, I began working as a therapist on child abuse and neglect cases. Before group practice, I worked for 10 years with adults in community mental health where I helped people facing a severe level of symptoms.I find it rewarding watching my clients overcome.I stand in awe of their achievement My goals for you I'm an assistant in your recovery process. Our work together is collaborative; we will explore what your goals are and how to support you in achieving them. We will check in regularly about your progress, and adjust goal
