Getting to know Sarah Matsko

I have been in the mental health field for 20 years, with experience in community mental health, crisis response, corporate mental health, and private practice. I specialize in perinatal mental health, supporting women as they navigate pregnancy, postpartum, fertility treatment, and life. I provide a non-judgmental space for clients to be heard and process feelings they might otherwise keep to themselves. I offer realistic strategies for coping with grief, anxiety, depression, and adjustment to motherhood. Watching clients grow is the most rewarding part of my job. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Are you stressed out and overwhelmed trying to balance life, work and family? I support women dealing with depression, anxiety, adjustment to motherhood, infertility, relational stress, and parenting. I support clients as they identify their goals and decide what they would like to get out of therapy. In our sessions, we'll talk about your current stressors, your personal life, work life, family, your mental health history, your childhood, and trauma. We'll come up with strategies together to improve your mental health and wellbeing. I specialize in women's mental health. I've been certified as a Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International since 2019. I use cognitive behavior therapy and interpersonal therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide talk therapy virtually using a HIPAA complaint platform, SimplePractice.
