Psychotherapist
17155 Newhope St, Ste F, Fountain Valley, CA
Starting therapy is one of the most courageous things to do, as you are taking the time to reach some of the deepest parts of yourself - sometimes even discovering new things about yourself that you never knew were there. I want to acknowledge that it is not easy entrusting anyone enough to be vulnerable. However, the compassionate, empathic, non-judgmental space I will create with you and the gentle guidance I have for you will show to you that it was all worth it; therapy is worth that courageous step. I will be with you every step of the way, as we process, navigate, explore, discover, and grow towards your fulfillment. While I look forward to working with any and all clients, I connect best with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals who are having a hard time with fortifying their identities, family dynamic issues, and struggling with phases of life problems (becoming independent adults, moving away from home, etc.). Through lived-in experience, I relate to Southeast Asian-American, queer identities; geo-socially, I grew up in a Latinx-majority community. I have experience with Complex PTSD and childhood traumatic experiences.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been noted to have a strong sense of humor, which I readily take with me into the therapy room. My sense of humor has helped me easily develop relationships, and I believe it is because it helps show my easiness and charm. Through laughter comes relaxation. Interestingly, friends and colleagues have said that my quietness and calmness is warm, making it easier to relax around me. I do not rush into things or put pressure on a conversation; I use gentleness and patience so that conversations are natural and the other person feels ready to say what they have to say. What you see is what you get when it comes to me, I always show up as my most sincere self. The provider is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, Dr. Ida Fariba, PsyD, LMFT. Their current employer is Grounded Connections Counseling, Inc .

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you book an appointment, someone from our office will reach out to confirm your appointment within 24 hours. Afterwhich, you will receive intake documents electronically to complete before your first session. During the first session, I will cover the practice policies and go over your intake questionnaires to ensure we have a good grasp for establishing treatment goals. The first session will be used to gather more information about yourself (or your relationship with your partner), your relationship with the problem at hand, and establishing clearly defined goals for treatment, as well as establish therapeutic rapport to ensure a comfortable space for your continued growth in treatment.
