Getting to know Sarah Poole

Hi, I'm Sarah Poole, LCSW-C. l'm a licensed clinical social worker who helps folks navigate depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I've worked in outpatient, inpatient, and acute care settings, and I love supporting adolescents and adults as they build confidence, insight, and emotional balance. I bring warmth, empathy, humor, and an open mind to every session-creating a space where you can feel safe, seen, and understood.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is person-centered, blending elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be. You are always the focus, so together we will choose areas of change or support that are most important to you. Therapy is meant to move you from dysfunction to positive function. This process can sometimes be uncomfortable, which is why having a compassionate and reliable therapist is crucial. I will be there to support that change at your pace.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session with be our introduction to one another, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your story and what you hope to achieve in therapy and ask me questions about the process. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment because when you feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, then that is a great foundation for the work of change and healing. From there, we’ll work together in the sessions that follow to make these goals a reality for you.

More information on payments and coverage

Our practice, Tau Counseling Services of Maryland, uses an EMR and insurance claims/billing service called Headway. When you schedule with me, you agree to allow us to register you for a client portal on Headway so that we can bill your insurance after each session. Within 24 hours of scheduling with me through ZocDoc, you will receive an email inviting you to confirm your client portal on Headway. Here you will be asked to enter a form of payment to cover deductibles and copays. We will verify that your specific plan covers mental health services or set you up for self-pay. Once that is verified, we will take care of billing your insurance after each session, or, if you are self-pay, we will provide you with a superbill if you are using your out-of-network benefits. We cannot see anyone with Medicare, Medicare Advantage or Medicaid at this time. We are OUT-OF-NETWORK with the BCBS FEDERAL EMPLOYEE PLAN.
