Getting to know Sarah Ryan

Life can be hard, and taking steps to support your wellness journey can be even harder. Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re looking to revisit your wellness journey with fresh eyes, I congratulate you for taking this difficult yet critical first step. I work with clients aged 13 and older and have experience supporting individuals through navigating issues such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, education and learning disabilities, peer relationships, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma and PTSD, and women’s issues. I hold a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College and a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo, which have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, effective care tailored to each client’s unique needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to counseling is collaborative, and I encourage my clients to bring their goals, reservations, fears, and hopes to our sessions to make their experience as personalized as possible. I want each of my clients to leave our sessions with a sense of optimism and confidence that will allow them to continue their wellness journey independently.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Although I personalize my treatment plans to the individual needs of each client, I primarily utilize the following modalities in my work: person-centered, psychodynamic, and attachment-based counseling. I also draw from my background as a Literacy teacher to validate the social and academic challenges my school-aged clients often face.
