Getting to know Sarah Trimble

I have been a clinical social worker since 1997, holding a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I use an eclectic, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, drawing from strategies in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). My experience spans private practice, hospice, child and family settings, and integrated health care. My approach I utilize a strengths-based approach, building on the patient’s existing strengths and resilience. I incorporate modalities associated with cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I specialize in grief, bereavement, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I encourage my patients to develop their own goals for wellness. My focus I support better coping with anxiety and depression, increased insight, and resolution of trauma. I assist patients in navigating grief through greater acceptance and integration of their experience, improving interpersonal relationships, and coping with life stressors. My communication style My style is supportive and calm, with active and reflective listening. I like to provide feedback and insight. My goals for you Success looks like my patients reaching their personal wellness goals, increasing practical strategies for coping with identified problems or stressors, and developing greater self-acceptance and resilience. My first session with you The first session is an opportunity to establish rapport, explore reasons for coming to therapy, and possibly focus on initial goals. Patients can ask questions to determine if I am a good match for their clinical needs. We will address confidentiality, their understanding and acceptance of telehealth services, and assess their current crisis status.
