Psychotherapist
2905 Wilson Ave Sw, Grandville, MI
Hi there, I'm Sarah! I think reaching out to a therapist and starting therapy really can be the hardest part. I want to create a safe and inviting space for you to share. I specialize in working with those navigating life transitions, stress/anxiety, and OCD. I take a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. My approach I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reshape unhelpful thought patterns. This approach is hands-on and gives you tools to feel more in control of your emotions and behaviors. Based on your unique needs, I may adapt my approach to include practices Exposure and Response Prevention, where we build up your tolerance to things that cause you stress. Your goals and progress are my primary focus. Together, we’ll identify challenges and work on strategies to help you move forward with confidence.” My focus I work with adolescents and young adults. These are not easy times, and sometimes we just need a cheerleader/coach who can have our backs and remind us we can handle the hard things. I’ll work with you to create a plan for growth that feels empowering and achievable. My communication style I prioritize clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with me as an empathetic partner. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be calm and patient. Therapy does not work if I'm the only one doing the talking. My journey to mental healthcare I actually did not think this would be a part of my journey. I had a plan, and that plan did not include a therapist. I lived in a rural community, way before the internet was an option. I experienced life's challenges on my own, never feeling like I had someone to talk to. And that is why I am now a therapist. I do not wish for anyone to feel like they have to go through life alone.
