Psychotherapist

I believe therapy begins with feeling heard, understood, and accepted as you are. My approach to counseling is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when we create space to listen to ourselves with curiosity rather than judgment. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and board-certified music therapist, I bring an integrative, person-centered approach to working with teens and adults. I support clients in exploring their emotions, understanding patterns that may no longer serve them, navigating relationships and life transitions, and making sense of how past experiences shape their present lives. My work is informed by the connection between mind, body, emotion, and creativity. I value helping clients deepen their self-understanding, reconnect with their strengths, and discover new ways of relating to themselves and others. Whether you're navigating a difficult season, feeling disconnected from yourself, or seeking greater clarity and connection, therapy can offer a space to slow down, explore what matters, and move toward meaningful change at your own pace.

Getting to know Sarah Woolson

I believe therapy begins with feeling heard, understood, and accepted as you are. I support clients in exploring their emotions, understanding patterns that may no longer serve them, navigating relationships and life transitions, and making sense of how past experiences shape their present lives. What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to work on before we begin. My approach is collaborative, curious, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with feeling heard and understood. I tend to take a listening-centered approach, creating space for you to tell your story, explore your experiences, and discover what feels important to you. Together, we'll explore your goals and identify ways to support the changes you're hoping to make. Our work may include reflection, experiential exercises, or experimenting with new skills between sessions. My background in music therapy also informs how I think about creativity, emotion, and connection, though incorporating music into counseling is always optional and guided by your interests and needs. Above all, I hope therapy feels like a space where you can show up as you are, even when you're unsure where to begin.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions are typically 60-minutes and offer space to check in with yourself, share your experiences, and explore what you'd like to understand or change. Depending on your needs and goals, our time together may involve telling your story, identifying patterns, getting in touch with your emotions, or experimenting with tools and strategies that support you in daily life. We'll work collaboratively to identify goals and revisit them as your needs evolve. Sometimes our work may include experiential exercises, music, meditation, or sound-based practices when they feel appropriate and meaningful to you. Between sessions, you may choose to experiment with new ideas or practices and reflect on what you notice. The process is not about having all the answers, but about building greater self-understanding and discovering new possibilities at a pace that feels right for you.
