Getting to know Savannah Mercado
Hello, my name is Savannah Mercado (LCSW and Officer in the US Army), and I have worked in the mental health field for over 7 years, serving a wide variety of populations.
I received my Bachelor's in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in 2017 and graduated with my Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2020. I began my career working in the nonprofit sector with various populations. Once licensed in 2023, I transitioned to private practice, which has always been my goal.
My aim is to provide a space free of judgment while challenging you to make positive changes in your life. My specialties include working with young adults, adults, and military veterans who are navigating life transitions, goal setting, time management, building problem-solving skills, and finding an overall sense of purpose.

What should a new client know about working with you?
As previously mentioned, my goal is to create a judgement free space BUT a good portion of therapy, with me, is putting in the work to make changes in your life. I have a lot of knowledge in emotional regulation/ communication skills, attachment issues in relationships, creating/maintaining boundaries in relationships, as well as CBT/mindfulness techniques. I lean more towards a strengths-based approach building on skills you already have, either fine tuning them or challenging yourself to build new skills.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
Together we will create goals that you feel you want to work towards in therapy. Throughout our sessions together we will identify barriers/ challenges you've experienced that have prevented you from reaching your goals. Typically when we work through these barriers we will address things that you may not have noticed are barriers or have chosen previously to ignore. It is in those moments you will experience the most change!
