“If you’ve been on the fence for far too long and are looking for some sort of validation to finally make that appointment, let this be it. Going to Sawyer for counseling has truly been one of the best and most transformative experiences of my life. I lived inside a cloud for so long, I couldn’t remember what life was like in the sun. Sawyer has walked with me through various life stages: postpartum, job changes, faith and family issues, etc. I’m finally in a place where I am loving my life and myself, and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Sawyer’s help. She is gracious and kind. She will believe in you, see your value, and push you in the ways you need it most. She creates a safe and comfortable space for you to come just as you are. I can’t recommend her enough!”

Getting to know Sawyer Gibson

Welcome! Please note that I will email you the intake forms to complete before your first session. Feel free to reach out with any questions! I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Educational Psychology and then earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I love anything outdoors, exercise, travel, cooking and enjoying good food, and most of all spending time with my husband and son who bring me the greatest joy. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with people from all sorts of backgrounds. I have learned that no matter where you come from, the pain you experience is real and healing is worth the work to get there. Counseling has helped to transform my own relationships by giving me the tools to face conflict and pain in different seasons of life. From personal experience, I can attest to the wholeness and freedom that is possible when given the space to freely wrestle with hard things. That said, I believe that change and growth is a difficult journey, and only one you can choose. I will walk alongside you in the process, but we only become the people we hope to be by making the courageous choice to ask for help, identifying areas in our life that need change, and then taking action toward our goals. It would be my honor to work with you as we discern the choices and actions that are right for you. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy with my clients based on their needs and desires during sessions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We can all struggle with forgetting our value, that our life and story have meaning and purpose. Whether it be your current life circumstances, broken relationships, or shame that has been weighing you down for far too long, you may have forgotten your own value. It is scary to feel hopeless, to question yourself, make sense of your story, and wonder "what's next for me?" It is daunting to release control over the unknown in whatever season you may be in. You don't have to face it all alone. I would love to journey with you. I would be honored to walk alongside you on the path towards wholeness and healing, to learn to quiet the distortions and anxieties that may be holding you back from experiencing freedom and peace. I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults ranging from issues of anxiety, depression, disordered eating, relationship issues, spirituality, and life transitions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It would be my privilege to hold hope for you in moments of hopelessness, to provide a safe space that allows you to come in and sigh a breath of relief that you are not alone. You are worth taking that step of courage and faith asking for help, so that you can connect deeper with yourself and others to experience a more fulfilling life.

Sawyer is incredibly patient and she is truly listening to what you are saying. I can tell she cares about you and what is going on. I always feel comfortable when I am with her. I never feel any judgment from her. She creates an environment to open up easily.
Our 11 year old daughter has been seeing Sawyer now for a couple of years. She always looks forward to her visits, and we have noticed a decrease in her level of anxiety since beginning these sessions. Sawyer is very professional, and has been able to build a strong, trusting relationship with her. She always leaves Sawyer's office with a smile on her face.
My visits with Sawyer have been amazing. Sawyer has given me many tools to help cope with my problems. I have implemented many in my daily life. These tools have saved me many times have helped lower my overall stress and better control it for the past few years. Sawyer is a great listener and gives advice that helped benefit me in many ways.
I am not someone who felt comfortable being vulnerable with anyone, but reached a point in my life where I needed help. I’ve worked with Sawyer for almost two years, in large part because she has never failed to foster an environment in our sessions that suited what I needed. That I could never ask for more feels like an understatement. Without Sawyer’s help, I can say with certainty that I don’t know if I would have someone of the parts of my life today that I cherish most. Every persons needs and goals are different, and I have never felt like mine were in question. When I have needed more, Sawyer has been available to me. When I have needed less, she maintained contact and let me know that I was able to schedule an appointment if needed. I could not be more grateful for Sawyer and the work we continue to do.
Sawyer is the epitome of patient and understanding. She has a way of making me feel understood and heard, but also challenges me at just the right moments. After each session, I feel like I understand myself on a deeper level and leave with tools to continue to grow and support myself.
