Scott Taylor, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker currently practicing at the Institute for Personal Growth. Scott provides therapeutic services focused on supporting individuals through personal challenges, emotional growth, and overall mental well-being. In his role, Scott works with clients to develop coping strategies, improve relationships, and foster self-awareness in a safe and affirming environment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic modality is predominately trauma-focused, psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Though my work integrates select mindfulness, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, our work principally explores unconscious attachment and relational patterns with oneself and significant others that, at times, manifest themselves in real time in our sessions. Calmly and inquisitively, but always letting you lead, we explore your wandering or focused thoughts and feelings, as they illuminate the origins of your current emotional distress and relational concerns. If you’re interested in seeking self-understanding and personal growth while relieving symptoms and fostering better relationships with your self and others, we will likely be a good fit. Like most all good things, however, this work is as demanding as it is rewarding.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Always nonjudgmental, and with a focus on the client’s stated goals, our work together highlights and brings forth strengths already present but not yet acknowledged. Once rapport is established, and through a psychodynamic, trauma-focused perspective, we create the trustworthy space necessary to address the underlying, often unconscious, relational patterns that gave rise to the client’s stated concerns and presenting issues. Successful therapy provides both deep insights and pronounced practical changes into your character and patterns of behavior and emotional responses in and to yourself and others.
