Getting to know Scotty Gilmore

Hi, I’m Scotty Gilmore, LPC (he/him). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Fort Worth, serving all of Texas through video sessions. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from Amberton University and a Master’s in Health Administration from Ohio University. My practice primarily focuses on Gay Men, Religious Trauma, and the entire LGBTQIA+ Community. I believe that we all have an internal compass that guides us. I see my job as a counselor to help you connect with your own compass—I see myself as a fellow traveler. My clients find me pragmatic, compassionate, and someone who really understands and “gets it.” I look forward to meeting you where you are today and helping you discover who you can become.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often tell me they feel seen and understood in our sessions. I bring a calm, thoughtful presence to the work—and I invite you to bring whatever is true for you. Whether you’re sorting through anxiety, relationship patterns, identity questions, or old wounds, I aim to hold space with care and intention. My work is deeply rooted in supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, particularly gay men, and those processing grief, trauma, or spiritual harm. Therapy with me is not about fixing you—it’s about helping you feel more connected to who you are.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. I practice an Integrated Existential perspective when working with clients. Whether you are struggling from anxiety, depression or grief, I will help you recognize underlying problems, fully realize your strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way.

Scotty has been very helpful for me during a most difficult time and continues to be. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a compassionate ear and sound guidance.
These sessions have been really helpful, both in terms of unwinding past trauma and helping process current events in order to function with more peace of mind. He gives me the tools needed after first session in order to center myself whenever I'm dealing with heavy emotions and from there, he listens to things that bother me and occasionally gives the conversation needed direction. I highly recommend Scotty for anyone in the LGBT community
Scotty has been helping me for months now, he's been super understanding and he is really informed in issues relating to LGBTQIA+, ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. That doesn't even scratch the surface of Scotty's practice. He is also very flexible with work schedules and finding a time that fits perfectly within my busy travel schedule too!
Scotty has really helped me out with my mental health. He is professional, very kind and open minded. He communicates well outside of the appointments and he is always on time. He is also just an amazing person for mental health advice, strategies, or just to talk to. I heavily recommend Scotty, especially to any fellow LGBTQIA+.
It was amazing. He creates a safe space and is a very professional individual. I would definitely recommend for someone wanting to start therapy/counseling.
I really enjoy my visits with Scotty. He is always knowledgeable of what my needs for the visit may be. Takes his time to prepare information that he thinks might be beneficial for my needs in between appointments. I would recommend Scotty to anyone that is in need of a therapist.
Very involved in what I have to say. I feel heard and valued. Ever since I started seeing him stress in my life has decreased. Best counselor I’ve ever had by far.
