Getting to know Seth Gans

It’s okay to not be okay. We all need help sometimes. Whether you're navigating the transition to adulthood, managing parenting, co-parenting, or figuring out who you are, I’m here to support you. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, focusing on helping young adults, parents, co-parents, and teenagers find clarity, heal, resolve conflict, and develop healthier ways to handle life’s challenges. Who I Work With: Young Adults: The transition to young adulthood can be overwhelming. Whether struggling with anxiety, career decisions, or relationships, therapy can help you find your path. Together, we explore your goals, values, and challenges while building confidence and skills for this next phase. Parents: Whether balancing work and family, managing your child’s behavior, or facing adolescence challenges, I can help. We focus on reducing stress, improving communication, developing parenting skills, and strengthening your relationship with your child—at any stage. Co-parents: Co-parenting after separation or divorce brings emotional and logistical challenges. I help co-parents create peaceful, effective parenting plans prioritizing children’s well-being. Whether improving communication, managing conflict, or developing strategies, we find practical solutions. Teenagers (13-17): Adolescence is a time of growth, change, and self-discovery, but also big emotions and challenges. If your child struggles socially, with family conflict, anxiety, school stress, or identity, therapy offers a space where they are heard and supported. I work with teens to develop coping skills, build self-esteem, and navigate growing up today.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a compassionate, collaborative approach to therapy. Wherever you're at in life, I want to meet you where you are. I believe therapy should be a partnership, where we work together to address the issues that are most important to you. My approach is tailored to each individual or family, combining evidence-based strategies with real-life applications. Whether you’re facing anxiety, communication struggles, family conflict, co-parenting conflict, relationship challenges, or just need a safe space to talk, I’m here to help.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When I start with a new client, my first step is to build comfortability and develop a deeper understanding of who they are and what brings them to therapy. I want to understand what the client is hoping to gain from therapy, so that I can provide a tailored treatment plan that will give them the experience they are looking for. I work together with my clients to collaboratively develop treatment goals, so that we are on the same page in terms of what our focus is and what progress will look like. It is important to me that my clients have agency in the therapy room, which is why it is important to work together to chart our course. In our sessions, you can expect to be treated with respect and compassion. You can expect to develop tools and strategies in addition to a deeper understanding of what you're going through. Most importantly, you can expect to develop and embark on a path forward, a path toward healing and positive change. I believe in the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship—one built on trust and mutual understanding. If you’re a teenager or young adult, we’ll work at your pace, with respect for your independence and your voice. For parents and co-parents, I’ll help you create a healthier family dynamic, get on the same page with your co-parent, set appropriate boundaries, and develop practical skills for managing the ups and downs of family life.

Seth is kind, calm and patient; connected well with my daughter and made her feel safe and understood.

Seth is a terrific therapist who is both compassionate and empathetic. He is a pleasure to work with, very consistent, and his insights are always extremely useful.
Talking to Seth has been such a positive experience. He’s an incredible listener who creates a safe, welcoming space to open up. I really appreciate how he shares his insights — always thoughtful, kind, and constructive. Every session leaves me feeling heard, understood, and more grounded! :)
Seth is a great therapist - is a fantastic listener and strikes the perfect balance of letting me get my feelings out while also giving me practical advice and exercises to practice moving forward
We’ve been seeing Seth Gans for my son’s therapy, and it’s been a fantastic experience. Seth is incredibly warm and engaging—my son always leaves his sessions with a smile and actually looks forward to going back. He’s been super flexible with offering Zoom sessions when needed, which has made scheduling a breeze. Seth has helped my son navigate our tough divorce and some challenging friend issues at school with real empathy and practical advice. We’ve been seeing Seth for years during the elementary age. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a supportive therapist for kids, he has a great way of connecting and making them feel seen.
I had the pleasure of having Seth as my therapist for the last few months. I looked forward to our conversations and I really enjoyed our time together. I was going through a troublesome relationship, and Seth was the calming voice which made me feel sane when I felt confused with my feelings. He provided clarity to my situation. And also provided great perspective from an outside party. It was with his support, I was able to remove myself from a toxic relationship and to move on. He was able to have me reflect on my past and present and see the whole picture. Unfortunately, for myself, I had to cancel our appointments due to work obligation getting a little too much. But I plan on the future to go back with Seth and resume our thoughtful conversations
I can’t thank my therapist enough for the support and guidance he provided. His empathy, patience, and thoughtful insight helped me navigate the difficult times and traumas in my life. I always felt heard and understood in our sessions, and he gave me the tools I needed to stay grounded, heal and grow. I truly felt safe opening up and appreciated how consistent and compassionate he was. Highly recommend to anyone looking for real, lasting support!
I have been seeing Seth since I was a freshman in high school. He has helped me through so much, always provides a safe and welcoming space for me, and is genuinely an awesome person. Every session with him feels like a debrief with a good friend, and I always leave feeling way better than when I came in.
My teenage son felt extremely comfortable with Dr. Gans. I struggled to find a therapist who I felt my son would be able to connect with and open up to. Dr. Gans gave him that safe space and taught him invaluable lessons on how to deal with stressful situations s. I’m very grateful.
Seth was very professional & personable. He did a great job of creating a comfortable, safe & open environment for his patient.
I can’t say enough good things about Seth Gans! My ex-wife and I were really struggling to communicate and agree on what’s best for our 3 children, ages ranging from 7 to 17 years old. Seth provided us with practical tools and helped us see things from each other’s perspectives, which made such a difference. Not only did he guide us in resolving conflicts, but he also showed us how to create a healthier environment for our kids. I genuinely feel like we’re working as a team now, thanks to Seth’s understanding, patience, and expertise. Highly recommend for anyone navigating co-parenting challenges!
Seth is amazing. He is highly professional, an excellent listener, and truly dedicated to his work. From our very first session, he's made a positive impact in my life. Seth is compassionate, understanding, and genuinely cares about helping others. I can't say enough positive things about him!
I first met Seth Gans 2 years ago. I was in a pretty dark place at the time and confused with how I should move forward with my life and decisions. Over the first 6 months, Seth provided me with the tools I needed to start to get past a rough patch of my life. I have been working with Seth since then and he has played a great role for me. He has always been caring, professional, and patient with me in every session. He allows me to speak everything I have on my mind and I always leave my sessions feeling a lot better!
Seth has been seeing my son since he was 7. He's now almost 9. He’s been a huge help to him and we are so grateful to have found him! He saw Seth originally to deal with anxiety issues, and continues to see him once a month or so (a couple of years later) to keep him on the right track and to address issues as they arise. He’s helped him gain the confidence to do extracurricular activities and has helped him with his schooling as well. Our son genuinely looks forward to his visits with Seth, and we would recommend him to anyone whose child needs some help and encouragement in their life!
When finding a therapist it’s important you connect with someone. I had a few decent experiences but had given up for a long time. I found Seth by chance and he has been such a gift and I tell him that at every visit. I have never felt so supported and guided in my life. I am going deep into issues and it’s been over a year but my life is so much better. I am getting through my chronic pain issues, eating better, exercising more and being the best mom to my 8 year old daughter with a sense of pride knowing how hard we worked to get here. My daughter started seeing Seth as well. She was scared of EVERYTHING!! She was literally powerless to her fears. Seth and her have been working on her confidence and fears. Since then her school work has been skyrocketing and she is gaining so much confidence in all aspects of her life. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that my family is better off because of Seth’s commitment, encouragement and compassion to his patients.
Seth is a fantastic therapist! He has gone above and beyond to connect with and support my 10-year-old son through some challenging times. Since seeing Seth, my son has learned to better manage anxiety and tough emotions, and grown in his confidence, self-esteem and social skills.
Seth is the best therapist I’ve ever had! He is so kind and understanding and always does his best to make you feel safe when sharing your feelings. He’s a great listener. I would absolutely recommend him!
