What should a new client know about working with you?

I want my clients to feel from the very beginning that therapy is a safe, steady place where they don’t have to go through their struggles alone. I am a client-focused and trauma-informed therapist, which means I move at your pace, honor your lived experience, and help you make sense of the patterns that have shaped you. My role is not to judge, but to help you understand yourself with more clarity and compassion. I integrate DBT, CBT, and person-centered therapy to provide both structure and flexibility. Many clients appreciate having a clear sense of direction—goals to work toward, tools to practice, and a framework that helps life feel more manageable. I use these approaches to help you build emotional regulation, strengthen boundaries, develop healthier thinking patterns, and stay grounded in your values. I often remind clients that the past teaches us, but it does not have to define us. Therapy is a journey—not a race—toward recovery, stability, and self-trust. Together, we identify your strengths, your resilience, and the inner resources you already possess. From there, we shift focus toward your future: toward keeping yourself healthy, safe, and aligned with the life you want to build. My goal is to walk with you through this process with compassion, honesty, and respect. You don’t have to carry everything alone, and with the right support, meaningful change is absolutely possible.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I want every session to feel grounded, safe, and meaningful. When you come into therapy with me, we begin by slowing things down—giving you space to talk about what you’re carrying, what hurts, and what you hope will change. You set the pace, and I guide the process with structure and direction so you don’t feel lost or overwhelmed. A typical session often includes three elements: Checking In We start by exploring how you’ve been feeling since our last meeting—emotionally, mentally, and physically. This helps us stay connected to what matters most to you in the moment. Understanding and Processing From there, we dive into the experiences, thoughts, or memories that are coming up. I use a trauma-informed approach, which means I’m careful to make sure the work feels safe and manageable. We explore patterns with compassion rather than pressure. You will never be pushed to share more than you’re ready for. Tools, Skills, and Direction To give you structure and momentum, I incorporate DBT and CBT techniques. These tools help you regulate emotions, make sense of your reactions, and shift unhelpful thinking patterns. This part of the session is about learning, practicing, and building confidence in the skills that will carry you forward. Throughout the process, therapy becomes a journey of understanding where you’ve been, learning from it, and then gently shifting your focus toward where you want to go. We work together to identify your strengths, rebuild your sense of safety, and create healthier ways of coping and relating. Over time, sessions move from managing immediate pain toward developing long-term clarity, stability, and resilience. My goal is for you to walk out of each session feeling supported, more grounded, and a little more connected to the life you want to build.
