Getting to know Shana Stokes

Creating a positive self-view empowers a person to take small steps to create lasting positive changes. Teaching skills to help regulate emotions, stay present in the moment and communicate needs and wants.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe making small positive changes increases a person’s quality of life. I have a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University. I am a License Professional Counselor. I have experience working with people that struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma (physical and sexual), psychosis, substance abuse and relationship issues. I want to help clients find their purpose in life. I believe change is possible. I have over 7 years clinical experience. I want to assist people finding their life purpose. I primarily use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I prefer to work with people in their late teens to adults. I am available for online sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first counseling session, clients can expect to engage in an open and welcoming dialogue, allowing them to share their concerns and goals in a safe environment. I will typically gather background information to understand the client's situation better and establish a therapeutic rapport. I will discuss confidentiality, the counseling process, and what you hope to achieve in the sessions moving forward.
