“She’s helped me uncover more about myself in 13 sessions than I’ve learned about myself in 18+ years of therapy. I seriously cannot imagine my life without her wisdom and guidance. She’s helped me through some of my darkest periods and I’m so beyond grateful for her.”

“She is by far the best therapist I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen 100’s of therapists in my lifetime and her ability far surpasses the giftedness of anyone I’ve seen in the past even well known providers in the field. I am beyond touched and privileged to have crossed paths with this EXTREMELY talented therapist who is equally kind, gentle and affirming of my own experiences and feelings very validating about trauma background which I greatly appreciate. Her talents and level of expertise DEFINITELY SURPASSES any other great therapist I’ve seen. We are so blessed to have Dr. Fowler. Thank you ??”

Getting to know Dr. Shannon Fowler

I graduated Eastern Michigan University with a major in psychology and a minor in nutrition in 2007. I completed my PhD program at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2014. During that time period I worked with patients in outpatient and inpatient settings including the University psychology clinic, Wayne State Family Medicine Center, Providence Alaska Family Medicine Center, and Providence Alaska inpatient services. My training allowed for me to develop techniques to help people who have medical complications as well as those with mental health issues. Since the end of my PhD program I have worked in outpatient counseling centers where I have seen individuals with a wide variety of issues including depression, PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, ADHD, pain, grief, difficulty adapting to medical issues, diabetes behavioral management, weight loss, etc. I have worked with individuals of all ages, but I really enjoy working with ages 12 and above.

What should a new client know about working with you?

First sessions tend to be more information gathering. I do try to address goals for therapy together in that session. I want to make sure we are all on the same page. If time permits we may be able to discuss brief things that could be helpful to do before the next session.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I was unsure about the whole appt and a little apprehensive going in but had no reason to be. Dr. Fowler was great and made me feel at ease and did a great job of leading the appt. She is a great communicator and I had no problem opening up to her. She answered all my questions.

She is one of the best psychologists I have worked with !! She has helped move forward and overcome my fears- She gives me the option to see a different perspective than my crazy mindset
I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. I was on time ready in platform but when she started the session, platform failed repeatedly. She then called me on the phone and offered to talk via phone. The connection was bad with background noise. I could not hear her. Told her I preferred a video session. She then concluded saying you will be charged for this session because platform didn’t work on your side. I was able to take other calls just fine. I have the fastest wifi available and a 5g cellular service that helps me to work from home without any issues everyday. I emailed her and asked for another session to try the platform because I already waited long and took time to answer a long questionnaire. she didn’t respond. This is very unprofessional. We need therapists who are compassionate, accommodating, supportive of people in distress. This experience added stress to my day.
