Psychotherapist
FL
Welcome! I'm Shannon Peña, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR-trained therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, support, and practical tools for lasting change. I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, life transitions, motherhood-related challenges, stress, burnout, and self-esteem concerns. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's unique needs. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore both the challenges you're facing and the strengths you already possess. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, I help clients process difficult experiences, develop healthy coping strategies, and build resilience. Whether you're working through a past trauma, adjusting to a major life change, managing anxiety, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. Seeking support can be a difficult first step, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients on their journey toward healing and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that therapy with me is a collaborative and judgment-free space. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and understood while we work together to identify your goals and navigate the challenges that brought you to therapy. I take a warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth approach. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel safe enough to be honest about their experiences while also feeling empowered to take steps toward growth. During our sessions, you can expect a balance of support, insight, and practical tools that you can apply in your daily life. I tailor therapy to each individual's needs and often integrate evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, life transitions, stress, motherhood-related challenges, or feeling stuck, we'll work together at a pace that feels right for you. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. My role is to meet you where you are and support you in building the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your current concerns, relevant life experiences, strengths, goals, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. This initial conversation helps us create a plan that is tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. In ongoing sessions, we will explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns that may be contributing to the challenges you're facing. Together, we'll identify goals, build coping skills, process difficult experiences, and work toward meaningful and lasting change. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and other evidence-based interventions. While every session looks a little different, my clients can expect a supportive and collaborative environment where they feel heard, challenged, and empowered. Therapy is not about having all the answers; it's about creating a space to better understand yourself, develop new tools, and move toward the life you want to live.
