Shannon Scott, LPC

Psychotherapist
SC
Hi there, I'm Shannon! My goal is to help patients feel seen and heard while exploring their current thoughts and behaviors to lead toward their aspirations. I strongly believe that all behavior is a form of communication. My focus My ideal clients are those that are ready to work to change their behavior but need assistance in how, have past traumatic experiences they need to work through, have low-level addictions but seek sobriety, or have a goal that they would like to achieve. My approach My approach to treatment with patients is heavily supported by the rapport that I build. A great rapport gives me as a therapist a better understanding of how to facilitate the sessions, approach sensitive topics, and support the patient in reaching their goal. My communication style My communication style is honest and straightforward while also compassionate. I prefer to ask the questions that help clients think deeper into their choices, behaviors, and thoughts. I am non-judgmental and seek to help clients feels more comfortable to engage in the therapeutic process. My journey to mental healthcare I began my career working as a therapist for children that have experienced trauma (sexual and/or physical abuse). I also have counseling experience working at an outpatient addiction treatment center assisting adults working towards sobriety. My full-time job is working as a professional school counselor at an alternative school. My goals for you I helps clients reach their goals by identifying a client's level of desire for change, barriers to change, and mapping out a plan to reach their goals. Our first session A first session with me would include going over guidelines and expectations of therapy sessions, what clients would like to get out of therapy, building rapport, and making sure that the therapeutic relationship would be a good fit.
