My communication style I strive for open and collaborative communication with all my clients. Marsha Linehan, who created DBT, said, "We're all in the soup together", meaning that we ALL need help sometimes, and we are ALL human - including your therapist! I will never just tell you what to do or expect that my perspective is the only POV that matters. I encourage my clients to give me feedback and be honest when something is working/not working for them. I emphasise the importance of safety in the therapeutic relationship and that my client's privacy is essential for a healing environment. I also love to laugh with my clients and find that finding things to laugh and smile about is highly effective when facing difficult circumstances. My journey to mental healthcare I have had an interest in mental health and human behaviour for as long as I can reasonably remember! Coming from a place of personal experience with mental health conditions, making the decision to become a therapist was one that I did not make lightly.
