Getting to know Shari Slessinger

My name is Shari M. Slessinger, LMSW. I am a licensed clinician in the State of Texas. I am a proud graduate of The University of Houston where I earned my Master of Social Work degree. As well as an alumnus of Stephen F. Austin State University and the University of North Texas, earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Social Work. I am currently under clinical supervision and pursuing my doctorate at Angelo State University. Working with Veterans is something I hold close to my heart. I am a proud granddaughter, daughter, cousin, and friend to many veterans. I feel it is my duty to give back to the men and women who serve our great country. Most all my research has been geared towards the Veteran population and work with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. While interning at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston, I got to experience firsthand what it is like to be a veteran and having to navigate the mental health and wellness system alone. I hope that I will be able to lend a hand and an ear to help make that process easier. I have experience in crisis counseling, trauma-informed practice, anxiety/depression, grief & loss, and behavioral interventions. I am here to assist you on your journey to health and wellness and utilize our time efficiently to meet your therapeutic goals.
