Shatasha Armstead, LPC

Psychotherapist
AL
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC). I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from South University, Montgomery. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, addiction, and recovery, using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help my clients create solutions rather than focus on problems. My approach to therapy is client-centered and tailored to the unique needs of each individual I work with. I frequently use CBT, PCT, and SFBT, as these modalities help both my clients and me identify challenges and develop strategies to motivate, achieve, and sustain meaningful behavioral change. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults experiencing difficulties with life transitions, work-life balance, and addiction. These challenges often present as anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help my clients navigate these transitions and develop techniques, including mindfulness practices, to manage their issues and enhance overall well-being. My communication style is calm, understanding, and inviting. I want my clients to feel comfortable and safe enough to openly discuss their feelings. I take pride in treating my clients with unconditional positive regard. I have always been naturally drawn to helping people overcome difficult times in their lives. Providing a safe, empathetic space for individuals to heal and grow is deeply rewarding. I thoroughly enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves. My goal-setting approach is collaborative, working together with my clients to identify and establish the goals they want to accomplish during their time in therapy.
