Shaun Hardie, LMHC

Psychotherapist
5399 Stoney Crk Dr, Fort Wayne, IN
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Indiana with extensive experience treating anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, relational distress, anger, and life transitions. I work with adults, teens, couples, and families, helping them learn practical tools to reduce suffering, clarify what matters, and build a more meaningful and flexible life. My approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT-informed skills, and mindfulness-based strategies. I help clients recognize unhelpful patterns—like avoidance, overthinking, shame, and emotional numbing—and replace them with workable, values-driven actions that foster long-term change. As a therapist, I focus on creating a grounded and supportive space where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered. Many of the individuals I work with are high-achievers, caregivers, ministry leaders, and young adults navigating stress, burnout, anxiety, or identity-related challenges. I also integrate Christian faith into therapy upon request, helping clients explore spiritual questions or concerns with clinical sensitivity. Whether you’re looking to overcome anxiety, heal from trauma, strengthen your relationships, or regain a sense of direction, my goal is to help you understand your inner world and build skills that move you toward a life that genuinely aligns with what matters most.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a warm, steady, and collaborative therapy experience. I don’t take a “fix-you” approach. Instead, I help you understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns with clarity so you can respond to them in workable ways. You’ll learn practical strategies to navigate anxiety, stress, anger, trauma responses, and relationship challenges—while moving toward the type of person you want to become. My style is calm, direct, and deeply supportive. I’ll help you slow down, notice what’s happening internally, and create space to respond rather than react. You won’t be judged for your struggles; they’re simply starting points for growth. Many clients tell me they appreciate how I make complex ideas simple and how quickly therapy becomes useful in real life. Therapy with me is not passive. You’ll practice new skills, reflect on what matters to you, and learn to take actions that support meaning and well-being. The goal is not perfection—it’s helping you experience life with more clarity, calm, and purpose.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, how your concerns are affecting your life, and what goals matter most to you. I use a collaborative, values-based assessment approach—helping you identify patterns of avoidance, stress, emotional conflict, or relational strain that keep you stuck. From there, sessions typically blend practical skill-building with space for reflection and guided exercises. Because my work is grounded in ACT, you’ll learn how to: • notice thoughts and emotions without getting pulled into them • reduce unhelpful avoidance and control strategies • clarify values that give your life direction • develop flexible, workable responses to stress and anxiety • take small, meaningful steps that build long-term change Depending on your needs, we may integrate CBT techniques, mindfulness practices, DBT-informed emotional regulation skills, communication work for couples, or faith integration if requested. Clients often leave sessions with a clearer understanding of themselves and a specific skill or action to practice before the next appointment. Over time, therapy becomes less about “fixing problems” and more about helping you build a life anchored in what truly matters.
