Getting to know Shawna Lewis

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. I specialize in crisis intervention and consult with clinicians regarding various treatment options when outpatient counseling is not enough. I also supervise Licensed Professional Counselor Associates during their post-graduate internships as they strive to become independently licensed. Additionally, I provide mental health education to the community through speaking engagements. I have a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I have extensive experience working with people who struggle with chronic mental illness and/or addiction in a psychiatric hospital setting as well as in private practice. I have a passion for helping others. I thoroughly enjoyed training to become a clinician, and that, paired with suggestions from friends and mentors, has led me down the road to becoming a supervisor and educator. With years of experience in the field, I can now give the training experience I enjoyed so much to the clinicians under my supervision and impart my expertise to the community. With the media portraying more mental health issues, properly educating the public on mental health is a need I can fill. My well-rounded career allows me to help others in several capacities.
