Shawnetta strives to promote a nonjudgmental, supportive environment where clients feel safe to share their thoughts. She uses motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based, and solution-focused approaches. Shawnetta loves empowering clients to motivate change. Implementing meditation when working with her clients helps them develop relaxation skills, improving their mood and quality of life. She believes mental health is a public health concern that should be normalized, not stigmatized. Receiving therapy is a positive way to overcome and manage one’s mental health. Mental health affects the mind, body, and soul, and going through the therapeutic process allows clients to understand how each plays a role in their well-being. Shawnetta earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Morgan State University. She recently became a mother to a beautiful baby girl in November and loves spending time with her family. She enjoys hosting parties, especially for holidays and birthdays. In her spare time, Shawnetta likes watching basketball, traveling, and trying new brunch spots with her friends. She also practices yoga on Saturday mornings to refocus her mind and body.
