Sheila Runnels, LPC

Psychotherapist
MS
Hi there, I'm Sheila! My name is Sheila Runnels, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) based in the Jackson, Mississippi area, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mississippi College. I work with young adults and adolescents, specializing in anxiety, stress, and ADHD-related issues. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I help my clients make progress and start to feel more confident about where they are in their lives. My approach Sometimes we need someone who will challenge us, pushing us to grow beyond our comfort zone in order to reach new heights or depths of ourselves or our circumstances. I most frequently use Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of how each client naturally tends to handle stressors. This allows us to collaborate effectively to navigate through the client's journey. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for teens and young adults who may be dealing with challenges related to ADHD, life transitions, or struggles feeling understood or appreciated by those in their circle of influence. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and other unidentified trauma responses. I work to help my clients navigate these challenges and build skills that allow them to show up as their authentic selves and develop tools to navigate more effectively through their circumstances. My communication style My communication style is personable, inviting, and comforting. I want my clients to feel safe opening up to me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.
