Getting to know Shelizbet Aguirre

I'm the founder and Clinical Director of a somatic- and EMDR-focused practice, leading a team of clinicians trained in the same approach. My specialty is EMDR Intensives — a focused, condensed format for people ready to move past a specific memory or issue instead of processing it slowly over months of weekly sessions. If you're stuck circling the same pattern, this work is built for you. A place where you can find real measurable movement.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I integrate EMDR with somatic work — including movement, shaking, and rhythm-based practices — to help your nervous system release what talk alone can't reach. Sessions blend concentrated intensives built around one memory or issue with body-based tools between sets. My team handles intro and integration sessions, so you're held by a full EMDR/somatic ecosystem, not just one weekly hour. I primarily work private pay/self-pay, which allows sessions to be shaped around clinical need rather than insurance limits — I'm happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with an intake to understand what you're carrying and whether weekly sessions or an Intensive format fits best. If you choose an Intensive, my team supports the intro and integration sessions around it, so you're held before and after the concentrated work, not just during it. For weekly clients, we build steadily toward the same goal: reprocessing what's stuck so it stops running your nervous system.

Rates. Sessions are $100–$185. We accept all major credit cards, and HSA and FSA cards — therapy is an eligible expense under most plans, so if you've set that money aside, you can use it here. Insurance. We're in-network with Optum/United through November 6, 2026. After that we're out of network with all plans. We provide a superbill after every session that you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement — many plans reimburse a meaningful portion. Why we work this way. Insurance requires us to give you a diagnosis, and it can limit how often we meet, how long we work together, and what approach we're allowed to use. Paying directly means the plan is yours and your therapist's to make, and your record stays between the two of you. If cost is a concern, bring it up on your consult call. We have payment plans, and if we're not the right financial fit we'll point you to providers and low-cost options we trust.

I highly recommend Sheli. After a traumatic experience with my previous therapist, Sheli made me feel comfortable right away. She has a calming, positive attitude and is very knowledgeable. Within our first 1-2 sessions I had already learned tools that REALLY help on a daily basis. Thank you Sheli!!!!!
I can't express enough how much Dr. Sheli has positively impacted my life. From the moment I started seeing her, I knew I was in the hands of someone who genuinely cares and is committed to helping me grow. Dr. Sheli is a remarkable therapist, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had her by my side on my personal journey toward healing and self-discovery. One of the standout qualities of Dr. Sheli is her deep empathy. She listens with such patience and understanding, making me feel heard and validated in a way I’ve never experienced before. There’s never any sense of judgment, only a safe space where I can share my thoughts and emotions openly. This has allowed me to be vulnerable without fear of criticism or rejection, which is invaluable in the therapeutic process.
