Psychotherapist
MN
Hi there, I'm Shelly! You have taken a big step to start therapy. I know it can feel somewhat frightening. I am here to walk with you on your journey by providing a safe, non-judgmental space for you to deal with life's challenges. I work to customize each session to meet the unique needs of the individual I am working with. I encourage you to reach out when you are ready to begin. I look forward to meeting you soon. My approach I believe each person is multi-dimensional and has their own reasons for seeking therapy. Therapy should be a partnership between the client and therapist. I take an eclectic approach to therapy, pulling from multiple models: Cognitive Behavior, Dialectical Behavior, Solution Focused, Trauma Focused, Mindfulness, Emotionally Focused, and Mindfulness. With this in mind, I believe the most important thing in therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. This needs to be based on trust. I will work to provide you with a space where you will feel heard, respected, safe, and where you can just be you. I customize my therapy to the unique needs of the individual. My focus My background in therapy is diverse. I have worked with young adults who were homeless in a large urban setting, provided in-home family therapy in rural Wisconsin, worked in a community-based mental health clinic, and in a large hospital. What I have found at the end of the day is that all people just want to live their best lives. This may mean working on anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues, or life transitions. My communication style I believe in open communication. I can be direct, however, I always want you to feel like you can disagree with me or let me know if I have missed something. I welcome this. I want this to be a non-judgmental and safe space where you can face life's challenges. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist after many years working in corporate America. I went back to graduate school to be able.
