Recognizing that we want to reach out to someone for help is a scary step forward. And it is rarely an easy choice to make, to allow someone into our world to help us help ourselves. It is my joy to be part of that exploration of self, and to give a safe space to clients to expand their sense of self. My approach I approach each client as an opportunity to learn more about the world around me, and how I can better serve each person. While I use certain techniques with every client, those are tailored to every individual's need throughout the process. My goal in counseling is to give every client what they are seeking in moving towards their goals. With a mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and mindfulness, compassion and curiosity are my greatest treasures to share with clients. My focus We all confront obstacles in our lives, and need a little assistance now and then to find a way over, through, or around those obstacles. My work with adolescents, young adults, women my own age, and the elderly has given me the chance over the years to assist people in unique (and not so unique) ways to challenge their views of those obstacles to find a path that works for them. Each part of our life brings up new challenges, and facing those with curiosity and compassion can make them easier. My communication style I am a firm believer in feedback being important, and that it is a both ways situation. As the counselor, it is expected of me to give you, the client, feedback, and I ask that each client give me the same experience, to receive feedback of all sorts. We cannot grow well together if we do not feel safe enough to let people know when they goof up with us. I strive to be open and honest, and do my best to create an environment where clients feel the safety to express their true selves when I make a misstep.
