Getting to know Shelva Alderman

I sincerely want my clients to feel better and will do whatever it takes to help them achieve a state of well-being. I approach therapy with a very down-to-earth concept, which allows me and my clients to build a more productive therapist/client rapport. I understand that each client is an individual and should be treated as such-from intake to treatment planning, discharge, and follow-up resources. I am experienced in treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, BPD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. I specialize in substance abuse and childhood trauma. The treatment modality I most often use is CBT, a psychosocial intervention that challenges and helps change a client's distorted thoughts and unhealthy behaviors by improving emotional regulation, implementing effective coping skills, and helping clients learn to problem-solve effectively. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Grand Canyon University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, evidence-based care.
