My approach I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy along with an eclectic mix of tools to help you manage the difficult thoughts and emotions that bring you to therapy. We'll start with a thorough assessment and develop a treatment plan together. Therapy is a partnership. You'll learn new skills in sessions and take them out into the world to practice between sessions. The comment I hear most often from clients is "Wow, that was easier and quicker than I thought". I know my job is done when you don't need me anymore and you "graduate" from therapy. That's my goal for you! My focus Ever notice how your mind keeps bringing up the same difficult thoughts and emotions over and over, no matter how many times you think you've handled that issue? That's what minds do. I work with individuals to develop a new relationship with those difficult thoughts and emotions. I've learned that there's no way to make them stop forever, but we can respond differently when they show up. My focus is on the present rather than the past because NOW is the moment you have an opportunity to shift a pattern, make a different choice, and move one step closer to the person you want to be. My communication style I'm compassionate and empathetic while being direct. If this stuff was easy you wouldn't need to come talk to me about it, so I always acknowledge that what you are experiencing is real and difficult.
