Getting to know Sherry Aaker

Hello, I'm Sherry Aaker. I'm excited to meet you and help you start your therapy journey. My ideal client is someone whose goal is to feel better, get useful tools that work, and trust the process to learn and grow through and guide through issues. My approach is developing a personal rapport with the client using solution-focused therapy, CBT, responsive listening, and questioning. I felt led to learning how to help other people heal by using empirical skills to get better. My counseling specialties include depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, women's issues, geriatric, college students, marginalized individuals, and spirituality, My techniques include relationship building to ensure confidence toward reaching and maintaining goals. A little more about me, I have served over 30 years working in various colleges with ADA accommodations and accessibility for students with disabilities, Dean of Students, and VP of Student Affairs. I attended Missouri State University, elementary education, MBA from Johns Hopkins University, Ed. D. from Tennessee State University, and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty University. My hobbies include oil painting, gardening, cooking, puzzles, and playing frisbee with my dog, Dakota. Dakota is a 4-year-old German Shepherd.
