Hi there, I'm Sherry! How do you want to look back on your life? From this moment on, do you want to feel empowered, to awaken your ability to know yourself, to learn how to identify the issues in your past that make problems in your present? Seeking therapy for help is your wise step, moving toward understanding of you and your life. My focus With 45+ years as a therapist, I have treated clients suffering from trauma, those puzzled and frightened by the phases of life, those struggling with issues of aging. My role as your therapist is to provide a safe and comfortable setting where you feel heard and seen, to give you ways of coping, and suggest perspectives that can ease your way. My approach Trauma from childhood causes all sorts of serious patterns to develop which eventually make you feel overwhelmed and wondering if something Is wrong with you. My goal is to help you dig out the trauma, identify feelings, and learn some ways to challenge the negatives you believe about yourself. My communication style My communication style is relaxed, attentive to what you say, and to let you know what I have heard. I use humor, and metaphors, and I teach the details of how emotions and movement work in the brain and body. Throughout our work together, we collaborate to discover the ways that will help you gain wisdom about yourself. My journey to mental healthcare From a young age I have been curious about what makes us tick, why we do what we do. In college I learned that what we see in someone is not what it looks like, and I felt a drive to help unhappy people find the peace that is possible with the hard work of therapy. 45 years later that drive is still perking.
