Getting to know Sheryl Reedy

At Psychotherapy Services of RI I try to help my clients understand their feelings, face their challenges, build their self-confidence and self esteem, learn how to manage life's many challenges and problems, and find a renewed sense of purpose and peace. I bring years of experience and a wealth of knowledge. I first started out as a foster care and adoption caseworker then became a clinician in mental health agencies. I worked for twenty years in special education as a school social worker and opened this practice in 2005. I offer talk therapy in person and through telehealth services. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma and more. My goal is to help individuals heal from their trauma, learn healthier ways to think about themselves, develop new insight and improved sense of self-worth. Ideally to help clients develop more effective coping skills to manage life's daily stress.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I meet clients where they are at. If they want to do the hard work and talk about difficult things we do that. If they want to express what is bothering them and be heard, we focus our energies on listening and validation. I try to help them to see the strengths within themselves, accept themselves as they are in the present moment and begin to nurture self love. I try to help clients recognize when they are getting stuck in an unhelpful pattern of behavior or thinking that is stopping them from acheiving what they want.
