“Sheryl is a great therapist! She is open-minded and solution oriented, but also very welcoming and warm, which makes it easy for me, as her patient, to easily open up to the process of therapy and work together with her as a team. We connected very fast and after only a few sessions I knew I had found the right person. She made it very easy for me to not feel overwhelmed by the process, but to trust it and to also feel safe.”

Getting to know Sheryl Stiffler

Have you been thinking about starting therapy but feeling overwhelmed by the process of finding someone who will be easy to talk to and a good fit for your needs? Making the decision to begin counseling can bring hope and relief, but it can also feel scary or intimidating. My goal is to create a safe and comfortable refuge where you can explore and express your feelings, identify solutions, and grow in your ability to develop healthy, supportive relationships. I enjoy working with people of all ages, including teens and children, and use approaches that research has shown to be helpful and effective. I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I appreciated the strong focus on science and research in my education and bring that perspective into my therapy work. Many clients have shared that they benefit from understanding what is happening in their brains and bodies and learning how to help the brain heal and function more effectively. As a musician and artist, I also value creative, non-verbal methods for healing and growth. When desired, I incorporate your spiritual or religious orientation into therapy, working from a faith-based approach as part of the healing process. I became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas in 2006. I have worked in private practice and in a non-profit agency serving adults with a wide variety of circumstances and needs. Throughout my career, I have considered it a true honor to be part of my clients' journeys and to offer my expertise and guidance as they grow and thrive.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, we will explore your current challenges and what you would like to change with therapy. In following sessions, I will provide helpful information and tools that you can start using immediately. I also provide lots of support and encouragement along the way, and direct feedback so that you can develop effectiveness with your new skills!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
