Hi there, I'm Shianne! I’m Shianne, a passionate licensed counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and foster personal growth. My practice focuses on supporting children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 5-35) who are contending with a variety of life stressors, including medical trauma, anticipatory grief, and recent medical diagnoses. I understand from personal experience that the journey through illness, both for those diagnosed and for their caregivers, can be filled with uncertainty and emotional weight. Whether you are grappling with the impacts of a medical diagnosis, supporting a loved one through their health struggle, or dealing with the emotional ripple effects of anticipatory grief, I am here to walk alongside you as you navigate these complexities. My approach The three leading theories that guide my approach to counseling are person-centered, Adlerian, and holistic therapies. First and foremost, using a person-centered approach means that I believe humans possess an inherent ability to solve their problems, draw their conclusions, and heal in the presence of someone who accepts them and allows them to express themselves freely and without judgment. My number one goal is to provide my clients with a safe space where they can be exactly who they are. Adlerian psychology emphasizes the idea that the implications of our childhood experiences are deeply rooted in the past, affect our present, and lead us toward our future. Therefore, the most logical first step of developing an effective therapeutic relationship involves laying the foundation for understanding those childhood experiences. Adler believed that a therapist’s role is to facilitate client understanding of how early experiences, and the memories of those experiences, have consciously and unconsciously led to private logic that affects the development of one’s subjective final goal, which is reflected in the client’s style of life.
