Hi there! My name is Shiori Yonesaka (she/they) and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over a decade of experience providing individual and family therapy. We live in a time where the world can feel so unsafe and scary, and my focus in therapy is creating a safe space where you can feel secure, open, and release all that you hold onto in your day-to-day life. I work via telehealth to offer accessible, flexible, and consistent care to individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, and relationship challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in the belief that every individual carries a unique life story that deserves to be heard with empathy and respect. I am particularly passionate about supporting members of the AANHPI community in exploring mental health through a trauma-informed lens. I also love working with little ones!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For the introductory session and the first few sessions, my focus is getting a good understanding of your experiences that led you to seeking therapy. I strive to create a safe and secure environment where we can start to develop a sense of safety and trust. These first few sessions are about exploring our match and co-creating a space where you can feel open, vulnerable, but also held and supported. We can then start moving towards identifying any goals and visions you have for what you'd like out of our sessions together.
