Getting to know Shira Piasek

Shira is a skilled mental health counselor supporting those in need to make positive and meaningful changes. What should a new client know about working with you?

I have always wanted and been interested in helping people make positive changes in their lives. I have treated clients with substance-abuse, co-occurring disorders and behavioral/mental health diagnosis. I have worked in an outpatient and inpatient substance abuse and Mental Health clinic settings. My clinical experience includes many different therapeutic approaches. I have experience working with all ages, but specialize in adolescence to older adults, couples, and families.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

An initial meeting with me will be completing an intake process of me getting to know you - as my client better. Making progress in therapy looks like completing both short and long-term goals and feeling accomplished overtime. I often find assigning homework can be helpful, but I am open to a client centered approach, realizing homework is not for everyone.
