Hello, I'm Shirley. Emotional well-being is one of the most important aspects of life. Sometimes life throws us a curveball that takes us off track emotionally. I can help guide you through those difficult times by providing you with the tools necessary to become emotionally healthy. I began my career in the mental health field over 16 years ago working for a mental health facility as an after-hours crisis worker. Upon completing graduate school, I worked as a therapist for a probation department, where I supported clients with substance use and mental health disorders for over 13 years. During this time, I served as the Program Director of the treatment programs for 11 years. Additionally, I have maintained a private practice for over 11 years and have been a Certified Forensic Counselor for 2 years. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients experiencing a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, psychosis, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship conflicts, domestic violence, and serious substance use disorders. My approach to counseling is non-judgmental and compassionate. I believe that mental health and substance use disorders have no social or economic status and that everyone deserves to be emotionally healthy. As an eclectic therapist, I use various methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, solution-focused therapy, and client-centered therapy. I am also trained in Motivational Interviewing. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. If you're ready to take the first step towards emotional well-being, I'm here to help. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and find a path to a healthier, happier you.
