Psychotherapist
MD
Hello, I'm Shirria, a mother of five and a dedicated introvert. Spending ample time in my own head has given me a deep understanding of self-reflection, questioning life decisions, and striving for personal development. My journey into social work began at the age of 25, following the profound loss of my brother. His passing made me confront my own mortality and motivated me to get my life together for the sake of my three children at the time. This pivotal moment led me to pursue a Bachelor's in Social Work from Barton College in 2008, followed by a Master's in Social Work from East Carolina University in 2012. I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2014, and since then, I've been committed to helping others navigate their own challenges. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety, often stemming from the pressures of life responsibilities. Whether you're an anxious mom feeling overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood and corporate work, or a younger millennial or Gen Zer grappling with internal conflicts about adulthood, unrealistic expectations, social media comparisons, or financial instability, I'm here to help. My therapeutic philosophy centers on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly share your thoughts. I aim to guide you towards the realization that you are enough, nothing is inherently 'wrong' with you, and you are deserving of your heart's desires. Together, we can work towards a more fulfilling and balanced life. If you're ready to take the next step, I invite you to reach out and start this journey with me. Let's work together to find the peace and clarity you deserve.
