Shomari Beamon, LPC

Psychotherapist
CT
Hi there, I'm Shomari! Since we're not all clones... YET... I approach treatment with an Integrative Perspective. As individuals, our care must be idealized. My focus areas are adults and couples. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My approach Some approaches I find helpful in Integrative Practice include CBT, DBT, Adlerian, and the Psychoanalytic approach. My focus I work with adults and couples, especially those struggling with re-entry, domestic violence, relationship issues, PTSD, substance abuse, sexual addiction, HIV/AIDS, grief & loss, spirituality/religion, depression, anxiety, infertility, LGBTQIA+, and career. My communication style I'm easygoing and don’t mind relaxing sounds in the background. I also understand when a more structured environment is needed. I have a great sense of humor and genuine New England sarcasm. I value organization. Patients can feel comfortable knowing I can assess when and how our partnership needs to shift for optimal results! My journey to mental healthcare In elementary school, I was inspired by loved ones to help those struggling with substance abuse and recidivism. A few movies showed me what this work could look like. I focused my high school studies on Psychology, and the gates have been open ever since. It’s been a journey of Maze Runner proportions, and it’s not over yet. Next stop... PhD! Education I earned my Master’s in Psychology from Capella University and my Bachelor’s from Southern Connecticut State University. My goals for you I approach goal setting by identifying why the client is seeking treatment and what a successful outcome looks like for them. I note their perceived strengths and weaknesses and propose building on strengths to identify objectives most likely to help attain their goal.
