“Shonda is my first experience with a therapist and her genuine and open-minded nature has made our sessions a safe environment for me to share my life with her. In just six months she has guided me through numerous DBT/CBT skills to help me through daily struggles. I feel lucky to have a therapist who empowers me to keep elevating myself mentally without judgement, and who is adaptable enough to search for new solutions when I regress. The only reason I have 9/10 is because I wish I could keep her all to myself lol.”

Getting to know Shonda Christina Walters

Hi there, I’m Shonda. You have made a big step today for your mental health journey by starting (or re-starting) your search for a therapist. I imagine you are hoping for changes in your life. Do you feel stuck and unsure what to do next? Overwhelmed with adulting? Do you find yourself caught in racing thoughts and worry? Having trouble getting through each day? I empathize with you, and I am here to help! I am an LPC in PA with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Villanova University. I have experience providing individual therapy to over 100 clients in Philadelphia and its surrounding areas, specifically marginalized communities, addressing struggles like Depression and Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, Grief, life transitions, and relational challenges. Together, we will explore your mental health struggles and experiences, foster insight into how they may have originated, and develop a toolbox of therapy skills for you to use in your day-to-day life. The interventions I use are person-centered/humanistic, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. I can also integrate existential and spiritual techniques (i.e., weaving in YOUR spiritual or religious beliefs) if you'd like. Additionally, I am strengthening my therapeutic skillset by pursuing a Doctor of Psychology degree (PSYD). I would be honored to take this journey with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My clients usually leave therapy feeling validated with a deeper understanding of themselves and coping skills to implement in their lives. My hope is that the therapeutic space will be valuable and help you unlock the best version of yourself.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
